Then drainage matting, a dimpled plastic sheet, was used to cover the earth to promote good drainage over the entire crawl space floor. On top of the drainage matting, CleanSpace liner was used to isolate the home from the earth. CleanSpace liner is a very durable, 20-mil plastic sheet material designed to reduce moisture, remove humidity, and reduce infiltration of pests from getting into the crawl space. The project required 2500 square feet of CleanSpace liner.

CleanSpace liner was also used to wrap the crawl space columns. The 14 crawl space vents were sealed and the crawl space door was replaced with 2 EverLast Crawl Space Doors. EverLast Crawl Space Doors are made from 1/2-inch PVC plastic so it won’t rot or rust. 2 SmartSump pumps were included in order to drain the remaining water out of the crawlspace. Lowcountry Foundation Repair took the following steps to fix the crawl space foundation.

First, the debris under the home was removed, including the existing disheveled black plastic. CleanSpace liner was also used to wrap the 37 crawl space support pillars and the foundation wall in the crawl space. In total, Lowcountry Foundation Repair used 2,066 of CleanSpace liner. After the liner was installed, all of the six crawl space vents were sealed. Then, two Energy-Star-rated SaniDry Sedona dehumidifiers were installed in the crawl space. Finally, a TripleSafe Sump Pump was installed in the lowest corner of the crawl space to pump the water away from the foundation of the home.

Damp, Buggy Crawl Space Encapsulated and Sealed in Beaufot, SC

Lowcountry Foundation Repair encapsulated John’s crawl space, sealing off the outside world. The project took three days to complete. First 85 linear feet of sock drainage pipe was installed along the interior foundation wall, beneath the porch and the left side of the home.

1,786 square feet of CleanSpace drainage matting was then used to cover the earth. Drainage matting is designed to help channel water to sump pumps for removal. It also protects CleanSpace liner from damage, which is installed on top of the matting.

CleanSpace liner was used to cover the matting, foundation walls and crawl space support columns. All six crawl space vents were sealed. The old crawl space door was replaced with an EverLast Crawl Space Door. A SmartSump was installed with alarm to remove water from the crawl space.

One SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier with condensate pump was installed in the crawl space to reduce the humidity. John asked that a remote hydrometer be installed in the crawl space so he could monitor the humidity level beneath him.

Lowcountry Foundation Repair first removed the debris from the crawl space, then installed 48 linear feet of sock drain pipe around the interior perimeter of the crawl space near the kitchen. CleanSpace liner was installed over the earth, up the foundations, and was used to wrap the support columns to reduce moisture from reaching the foundation of the home. The job required 3,648 square feet of liner.

SilverGlo, a high-efficiency graphite-impregnated insulation with a built-in radiant heat barrier surface, was installed along the interior foundation walls to increase the R-value. It was also used to seal the 16 crawl space vents.

After the crawl space was encapsulated, a SmartSump with a WaterWatch Alarm was installed to evacuate water from the crawl space. A SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was installed, along with a condensate pump. An Everlast crawl space door replaced the old, leaky wooden crawl space door.

After the crawl space was encapsulated, the subfloor was replaced in the kitchen above. Four SmartJacks - galvanized steel crawl space support columns - were installed in the crawl space to provide additional support under the kitchen where the heavier appliances were located.

Lowcountry Foundation Repair installed WaterGuard around the perimeter of the basement interior to channel water to a ⅓ horsepower Zoeller cast iron SuperSump pump that was installed in the corner of the basement for water removal.

WaterGuard is designed to capture water seepage along the wall and floor joints. It is made from thick plastic and won’t rust or decay over time. Nine WaterGuard inspection ports were installed in the system to allow for annual inspection. Water collected is channeled to a SuperSump pump where it is pumped away from the foundation.

Before installing the WaterGuard, the basement floor had to be jackhammered and concrete removed. Once the site was prepped, the WaterGuard was installed and covered with fresh concrete.

Push Pier System Stabilizes and Lifts Gray, GA Foundation

Home Insurance Company Requires Hazlehurst, GA Foundation to be Fixed

A Lowcountry Foundation Repair inspector went to Gloria’s home and recommended a two-part custom solution to address the settlement issue she was experiencing.

The inspector recommended stabilizing the foundation wall with four galvanized steel push piers. Three of the four piers were installed along the exterior of the garage wall. The fourth pier was pushed in front of the garage, next to the concrete driveway. Load-bearing strata were reached at a depth of 7 feet 2 inches. The job took two days for the Lowcountry Foundation Repair to complete. Gloria was thrilled to call the insurance company back to tell them the foundation was fixed.

Sinking, Settling Home Stabilized WIth SmartJacks, Helical Piers in Danville, GA

Lowcountry Foundation Repair recommended stabilizing the sinking wall with seven galvanized steel helical piers. Additional support would be needed under the home in the crawl space. It was recommended to install six SmartJacks under the home to stabilize the subfloor.

SmartJack crawl space piers are custom-cut to size, based on the height of the crawl space. A threaded post cap allows the floor to be lifted. All SmartJack parts are protected against rust with a thick galvanized coating.

Ricky approved the project and the Lowcountry Foundation Repair team was able to stabilize the foundation in three days. Ricky was very happy to have his 128-year-old home protected!

Lowered Electric Bill in Savannah, GA With Crawl Space Encapsulation

Mike called Lowcountry Foundation Repair and scheduled an inspection of the crawl space. The Lowcountry Foundation Repair inspector noted debris, high relative humidity, and a failing vapor barrier system left behind from another contractor.

Lowcountry Foundation Repair was able to reduce the moisture and the humidity under the home by removing the debris and installing a Complete CleanSpace Encapsulation System. After the debris was removed, 2,600 square feet of Drainage Matting was installed to cover the earth. On top of the matting, 2,600 square feet of CleanSpace liner was installed. The liner was also used to wrap the piers in the crawl space. SilverGlo -- graphite-infused expanded polystyrene foam insulation panels -- were installed around the foundation wall to increase thermal insulation. The project required 26 panels measuring 4 feet by 8 feet, cut to size. The crawl space vents were also sealed.

An EverLast CrawlSpace Door replaced the old wooden crawl access door. A SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was installed in the crawl space with a condensate pump, sending collected moisture to a SmartDrain where the water could be returned to the earth.

A remote hygrometer was added at the request of the homeowners.

The project took four days to complete and was a success.

The Low Country Home & Garden Show has been held for the past 13 years. Show hours are 2-7 p.m. Friday, January 18, 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. Saturday, January 19, and from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sunday January 20, 2013. This show is open to the public. Tickets can be bought at the door for $7.00 Adults, $5.00 Seniors 65+ and Retired Military, while children under 16 and Active Military can attend for free.

Lowcountry Basement Systems was recently honored at a meeting with close to 1,000 guests from all over the United States, Canada and the UK, at this year’s Team Basement Systems Convention.

The annual convention is held each year between Seymour, CT, (Basement Systems headquarters) and Hartford, CT, and brings together dealerships of the international network for training, seminars, networking, celebration, vendor and team building events.

This year Lowcountry Basement Systems received an award at the Team Basement Systems International Convention. Lowcountry Basement Systems was awarded for ranking in the Top 50 Foundation Supportworks Dealers - Total Sales.

The high-powered event featured international motivational speaker Andy Andrews! Andrews, world-renowned speaker and author (The Travelers Gift) dazzled the crowd with his presentation highlighting personal choices and attitudes that make the difference between failure and success.
