Stan Y. of Summerville, SC called Lowcountry Basement Systems after a routine inspection from a termite company showed signs of high humidity. Stan did not want problems the foundation of his home and wanted to address the situation right away. Lowcountry Basement Systems recommended encapsulating the crawl space to remove the moisture and reduce the humidity.
The project took three days to complete. First, a drainage matting was laid over the earth, then CleanSpace liner was used to cover the drainage matting. The crawl space vents were sealed, the crawl space door was replaced. The sump pump was replaced and dehumidifier was installed.
Standing Water in the Crawl Space
During the inspection, standing water was documented in the crawl space. Lowcountry Basement Systems fixed that.
High Humidity Level
The high humidity level in the crawl space was evident. The insulation absorbed some of the moisture, weighing it down, causing it to fall.

The first step to fix the crawl space was debris removal and installation of drainage matting.
