Before & After
A homeowner in Rutledge, GA reached out after noticing a sudden dip in their living room floor, accompanied by severe floor bounce and a nearby interior door that would no longer latch shut. An immediate inspection in the crawl space uncovered the culprit: an original concrete block support pier had settled unevenly in the soft Georgia clay, lost footing, and completely toppled over, leaving the primary center girder sagging without proper load-bearing support.
To resolve the structural failure, our crew cleared out the collapsed masonry and excavated down to dense, load-bearing strata. The team poured and mechanically compacted an engineered crushed-stone base to prevent any future settling before installing a heavy-duty Supportworks SmartJack® crawl space stabilizer. The galvanized steel column was fitted securely between the stable base footing and the wooden carrying beam, then carefully tensioned to lift the sagging joists back toward their original position. With the failed concrete pier replaced by engineered steel, the Rutledge home now has permanent, adjustable support—eliminating the floor dip, restoring smooth door operation, and ensuring lifelong structural stability.
