The galvanized steel column was fitted securely between the stable base footing and the wooden carrying beam, then carefully tensioned to lift the sagging joists back toward their original position. With the failed concrete pier replaced by engineered steel, the Rutledge home now has permanent, adjustable support—eliminating the floor dip, restoring smooth door operation, and ensuring lifelong structural stability.
